Collin Morikawa is just 24 years old, the fourth-ranked male golfer in the world, and already has four career victories.
Despite all his early success, Morikawa continues to hone his craft and recently made a dramatic change to his putting stroke.
His change to the “Saw” grip paid off in just two tournaments as he claimed the WGC-Workday Championship at The Concession, joining Tiger Woods as the only two TOUR pros to win a major and WGC Championship before the age of 25.
Morikawa entered the tournament 213th in Strokes Gained: Putting on the season, but the change resulted in him finishing the WGC-Workday 10th in strokes gained on the green.
PGA Professional Rick Sessinghaus has coached Morikawa for over 15 years & recently shared the benefits of the “Saw” grip with PGA.com.
RELEASE
“The ‘Saw’ grip helps Collin release the putter through impact better. The grip has made him comfortable with how the putter swings through the stroke as there is no manipulation of the clubface through impact.”
SPEED CONTROL
“He also noticed that his speed control is better as a result of a more true roll. The grip puts his right hand and arm in a better position.”
